The Advanced Semiconductor Materials and Devices Laboratory at UIC focuses on the modeling, design, fabrication, and characterization of high performance compound semiconductor devices. Some of our current research involves 1) the design, fabrication and characterization of GaN based MISHFETs for both power switching and power amplifiers; 2) the simulation, design and fabrication of infrared photodetectors based on AlGaAs/GaAs and AlGaN/GaN triple quantum wells; 3) the first principles and molecular dynamics simulations of interactions of molecules with transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) nanostructures, and their future device applications in chemical and biological sensing; 4) exploration of valleytronics: theory and experiments.
***We are constantly looking for highly self-motivated postdocs and students on all levels (PhD, Master, Undergrad) who are interested in semiconductor devices and nanotechnology.
